Blue Ridge Writers started in 1991. It is affiliated with the Virginia Writers Club. The mission of Blue Ridge Writers (BRW) is to support and stimulate the art, craft, and business of writing, as well as be an advocate for literary arts in the region. BRW serves aspiring and published writers in the following regions: the cities of Charlottesville, Staunton, Lexington, and Waynesboro, and counties of Albemarle, Augusta, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Madison, Nelson, Orange, and Page.
Members of BRW do not have to reside in central Virginia to take advantage of many of our programs.
Blue Ridge Writers is an independent, member-based organization governed by an Executive Board. It follows applicable and useful Federal and Virginia reporting requirements.
Blue Ridge Writers does not have a permanent building. We work with WritersHouse in Charlottesville for monthly critique meetings (see events on the home page). We arrange for meeting space at Charlottesville's Northside Library on Rio Road as needed.
Blue Ridge Writers offers a number of programs for members. There are satellite programs in Staunton and Luray. We do an annual retreat, publish, and sponsor writing contests. Many of our programs do not require a physical presence. Use the contact form at the bottom of this page if you have questions. Visit us on Facebook. Ask to join.
Down load our application. There are varying degrees of membership. The basic membership is $25/year, prorated.
